<p xml:lang="ger">Die Handschrift besteht aus zwei Teilen. Der erste umfasst
Lage 1-7, der zweite reicht von foll. 60r-99r; darauf folgt ein später
geschriebener Text (Ps.-Augustinus, 10.
                            Pertz (<ref target="http://www.mgh.de/dmgh/resolving/MGH_LL_1_S._271"

Kapitular Karls des Großen handelte. Dieser Fehler wurde bereits von
Pardessus, (Loi Salique, p. XXXVI f.), Christ (Schloßbibliothek, p. 321)
und zuletzt von Mordek (Bibliotheca, p. 1043) richtiggestellt. Nachdem
<p xml:lang="eng">The manuscript consists of two parts. The first covers
quires 1-7, the second is from foll. 60r-99r. A text that was written
later (Ps.-Augustine, 10th century) follows directly after the
fragmentary Lex Alamannorum. Although the first two parts were both
written by a mid-9th-century scribe in minuscule script without
ligatures and variant forms, they probably did not belong together
originally, because the numeration starts anew from the 8th quire
onwards. Thus, the leges-part might have been intended to be a separate
codex, which should at least include the Lex Salica and the Lex
Alamannorum. According to Pardessus the list of titles of the Lex Salica
was to be found on the cut out leaves 57-60, its end on the also
resected foll. 93-94. Obviously the copyist soon lost interest in the
leges, since only in this part of the codex were the rubrics not carried
out. The large spaces appearing frequently between the titles are left
blank, making it unnoticeable that a different text starts with the Lex
Alamannorum, this might have caused Hänel's (Catalogi librorum
                            manuscriptorum, c. 63) and Pertz's (<ref target="http://www.mgh.de/dmgh/resolving/MGH_LL_1_S._271"
type="external">MGH LL 1, p. 271</ref>) misconception of the text as
a capitulary of Charlemagne. This error was rectified by Pardessus, (Loi
Salique, p. XXXVI f.), Christ (Schloßbibliothek, p. 321), and also by
Mordek (Bibliotheca, p. 1043). After the scribe stopped copying the Lex
Alamannorum in the middle of title 3 on fol. 99r, the following leaves
were limned by a different scribe, presumably not before the 10th
                            century.</p>

Bibliotheca legum aims at presenting an overview of the
legal knowledge that existed in the Carolingian period. All
"leges" (secular law texts) that were copied during that
time are included. The database was originally prepared for
use within the History Department only. The idea to make
this tool publicly available emerged in summer 2012. A short
description containing information on repository, origin and
history of the manuscript, contents as well as additional
literature etc. is available for each codex. Those are
encoded according to the TEI P5 standard and downloadable in
xml format. Further resources like existing descriptions,
digital images etc. as well as texts and studies that
accrued within the context of the project are also included.
A comprehensive bibliography and indices on people, places
                                        and repositories facilitate further
                                        orientation.</p>
